A tapered roller bearing is a precision machine component with cone-shaped rollers and races (inner cone, outer cup) that handle heavy combined radial and axial (thrust) loads, unlike ball bearings, by distributing force over a large contact area, making them ideal for heavy machinery like vehicle wheel hubs and gearboxes where high strength, durability, and low friction are needed.
The HR Series increases both the size and number of rollers for even higher load capacity.
Tapered roller bearings are divided by their contact angle into normal-, medium-, and steep-angle types. In addition to double-row types, four-row tapered roller bearings are also available. Pressed cages are generally used, though large bearings may utilize pin-type cages.
